The Miss Universe Australia pageant provides a platform for the most beautiful, talented, educated and confident young women to compete for the Miss Universe Australia Crown, and go on to represent Australia at the Miss Universe International Pageant.
Pink Tank Events, formed by Perth businessman Troy Barbagallo, has owned the rights to the Miss Universe WA Preliminary for the past seven years. Troy was keen to create unique and exciting experiences for the contestants, as well as for the corporate sponsors and social event frequenters. Pink Tank Events changed the culture of the Miss Universe Pageant in Australia by offering a unique opportunity to the contestants, with image building, health and fitness, beauty and confidence seminars, combined with a myriad of social and corporate networking commitments. The pageant has become an enviable experience for the young women of Western Australia and their families.
The Miss Universe Organisation has rewarded the Pink Tank team for their efforts by granting the National license, with the highly successful WA program to be
rolled out at a national level. This year, the Miss Universe State programs will follow the recent success of the Western Australian campaigns in 2015 and 2014, which featured over 400 applicants, 70 finalists, 13 official events each year, and a fun and glamorous State Final every bit fitting of the Miss Universe international brand.
Fun, social and travel elements aside, the 2016 program offers an array of health, wealth and educational opportunities. This includes a fully accredited Powerful Impression Certificate, a valuable support network and a very enticing line up of prizes that any young woman would be crazy to ignore, all without having to put their hand in their pocket.
Pink Tank Events has created a competition fitting of the powerful, international Miss Universe brand that delivers an exciting event that attracts significant public interest, professional management, honesty and accountability, responsible care when looking after and protecting the contestants, and confidence building in its contestants and encouragement for them to achieve their dreams. They have built a platform with a positive culture, that is fair, and that Australian women want to be a part of.
In a revolutionary move that will instantly change the environment and the perception of this platform, the 2016 contestants in each State will be prepared as a team. With a strict fitness regime, life improving educational and wealth opportunities, and a seriously fun social schedule, the new MUA program encourages all contestants to bond, support and ultimately bring out the best in each other. In another first for Miss Universe Australia, we will see the return of our past champions. As state captains and mentors for the new
crop of talent, they will add some extra banter, fun rivalry and excitement to the competition. As industry professionals and successful women in their own right, they are sure to attract significant media attention to the program and their respective state teams. And to ensure the 2016 National Finalists take to the stage putting their best foot forward, they graduate with the fully accredited EGAMI Powerful Impressions Certificate, prior to the Miss Universe Australia National Final.
The Top 30 National Finalists travelled to Bali for the Winners’ Boot Camp, including both hard work and some spoils for winning a spot in the National Final. The National final will take place in the last week of August in Melbourne, hosted by the Sofitel on Collins. For one week the contestants will take part in rehearsals, training and fittings plus enjoy all that Melbourne has to offer, culminating in a black tie gala National Miss Universe Final!
Since 2009, ToyBox International has been the chosen charity for Miss Universe Australia. ToyBox International is a children’s charity dedicated to improving the lives of sick and disadvantaged children. They are passionate about starting in our own backyard with the money raised by the Miss Universe state finalists spent in their respective states to help local children in need.
Pink Tank Events, who also own The Royal Queensbury Championship (Perth’s most renowned, high end corporate, charity event), is an arm of the Barbagallo Group of Companies.
