NRL Round Nine: The Winners and Losers

Brisbane: looked like winning by fifty, had to weather a late Penrith comeback.
Manly: destroyed Souths through a 30-2 first half blitz with Akuila Uate scoring four tries.
Parramatta: back into the eight after a big win in Townsville.
Gold Coast: two wins in a row after belting Newcastle.
Canterbury: bounced back from the Wests loss with a comeback win over Canberra.
Cronulla: shrugged off the Titans loss with a tight win against Wests Tigers.
NZ Warriors: broke a two-game losing streak with a one-point win over the Sydney Roosters.
Melbourne: now two games clear at the top after beating the Dragons.

Penrith: restored some pride with three second half tries after a poor start.
Souths: not even Adam Reynolds’ return could stop a dominant Manly.
North Qld: once invincible at home, the Cowboys are 3-3 at Townsville in 2017.
Newcastle: bright start turned into a bad afternoon with 30 missed tackles and 12 errors.
Canberra: fourth loss by six points or less this season. Could that cost them?
Wests Tigers: after a promising start, the injury-hit Tigers were kept tryless in the second half by Cronulla.
Sydney Roosters: controversial loss in Auckland saw them slip from the top four.
St. George-Illawarra: good second half comeback against Melbourne, but the game was lost in the first forty minutes.
