NRL round 14: the Winners and Losers

Melbourne = even without Cooper Cronk, they had enough class to beat Cronulla.
Manly = controversial win against Newcastle – Akuila Uate’s “try” will be talked about for a long time.
Brisbane = great first 20 minutes was enough against Souths.
NZ Warriors = first win in Australia this season, beating Gold Coast.
Penrith = two tries in the last two minutes to beat Canberra.
North Qld = Thurston’s return sparked a huge win over Parramatta.
Sydney Roosters = now in second after belting Wests Tigers.
Canterbury = what a difference a week makes! Three tries to nil against the Dragons.

Cronulla = good comeback against Melbourne, turning a 12-0 deficit into a 13-12 lead, but it wasn’t enough.
Newcastle = extremely unlucky not to get their third win this year.
Souths = fought back in the second half against Brisbane but it was too late.
Gold Coast = big home loss against the Warriors.
Canberra = now lost six games by six points or less.
Parramatta = the rejuvenated Cowboys were too good in Darwin.
Wests Tigers = lost five in a row, season all but over.
St. George-Illawarra = disappointing loss to Canterbury but still in the top four.
