India will play Pakistan in the ICC Champions Trophy final at The Oval on Sunday after India beat Bangladesh in the Edgbaston semi-final.
Chasing 265, India (1/265) cruised to a nine-wicket win in 40.1 overs. Rohit Sharma (123 not out off 129 balls) and Shikhar Dharwan (46 off 34) compiled 87 for the first wicket. Captain Virat Kohli (96 not out from 78) compiled an unbeaten 178 with Sharma for the second wicket.
Earlier, Kedar Jadav (2/22), Jasprit Bumrah (2/39) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2/53) restricted Bangladesh to 7/264 in 50 overs. T Iqbal (70 off 82) and M Rahim (61 off 85) were Bangladesh’s top run-scorers.
It was a disappointing end to a historic tournament for Bangladesh.
The India v Pakistan final is another chapter in their heated rivalry and their first Champions Trophy final. India beat Pakistan in their Group B game by 124 runs.
