Reds defeat Brumbies

SUPER RUGBY: The Qld Reds upset the ACT Brumbies 16-15 at Lang Park tonight.

While the Brumbies are guaranteed a quarter-final spot, they would have been disappointed blowing a 15-6 lead.

Qld Reds’ Hamish Stewart scored with nine minutes left to close the gap to two points. A last-minute Quade Cooper penalty goal gave the Reds victory.

On a horrible, misty night over 13,000 fans were rewarded with the Reds’ fourth win this season.

Trailing 6-3 at halftime, the Brumbies looked to have won the game with a penalty try (50th minute) and a try to Kyle Godwin (54th minute). Former Brumby George Smith was yellow carded after the penalty try.

The Brumbies’ final regular season game is against the Chiefs in Waikato (Saturday 15th July) while the Reds travel to Dunedin to play the Highlanders (Friday 14th July).
