Brisbane Heat beat Melbourne Stars

The Brisbane Heat won their first BBL home game, beating Melbourne Stars by 15 runs at The Gabba, despite an allround display from Marcus Stoinis.

Chasing 207, Stoinis scored 99 from 51 balls as the Stars made 6/191. He compiled 137 for the fifth wicket with James Faulkner (47 not out from 38). Shadab Khan took 2/41 for the Heat.

Alex Ross (51 from 36) and Joe Burns (50 from 28) compiled 82 for the fourth wicket as Brisbane scored 7/206, supported by Brendon McCullum (40 from 22) and Ben Cutting (35 from 18). Stoinis took 3/38 and Michael Beer 2/21.
