Perth and Melbourne Renegades win BBL double header

The Perth Scorchers and Melbourne Renegades both won in the BBL07 double header.

In the afternoon game, the Perth Scorchers defeated the Sydney Sixers by six wickets at the SCG.

Chasing Sydney’s 132, Ashton Turner scored 52 not out off 27 balls as Perth reached 4/136 with 11 balls to spare. He combined for an unbeaten 70 with Adam Voges (19 not out off 17) for the fifth wicket. Sean Abbott took 3/28 for the Sixers.

The Sixers started poorly, slumping to 5/46 and rescued by Nic Maddinson (31 off 33), Steve O’Keefe (23 off 18) and Abbott (23 off 13). Andrew Tye (4/21) took a hat-trick to close out the innings.

In the evening game, the Renegades defeated the Brisbane Heat by seven wickets at Etihad Stadium.

Chasing Brisbane’s 8/132 (Alex Ross 48 off 44; Jack Wildermuth 3/16, Brad Hogg 2/25, Dwayne Bravo 2/27), Tom Cooper scored 52 not out off 44 as Melbourne reached 3/137 off 18.4 overs. He compiled 89 for the third wicket with Cameron White (51 off 43). Shadab Khan took 2/17 for the Heat.
