The Melbourne Renegades won the first Geelong BBL game (at Kardinia Park), beating the Sydney Sixers by six wickets.
Cameron White scored 49 not out off 44 balls as the Renegades – chasing Sydney’s 8/111 – reached 2/112 in 15.3 overs. White compiled 91 for the second wicket with Aaron Finch (51 off 38).
Johan Botha (32 not out off 23 balls) top-scored for the Sixers while Dwayne Bravo took 3/32 and Mohammed Nabi 2/22.
Last summer’s cult hero Mickey Edwards debuted for the Sixers, making 0 not out off 0 balls and taking 0/31 off three overs.
